Adrian "Coach A" Abrahamowicz passed away on August 21, 2022 after a courageous and hard-fought battle against cancer at the age of 50.
He graduated from Lorain Catholic High School in 1989 and attended Tiffin University where he played baseball for one season before joining the Marine Corps. When an injury forced him to return to school, he worked his way through college and graduated from Tiffin University in 2004 with a bachelor degree in Criminal Justice Administration. While his injury derailed his tenure in the Marines, it opened an opportunity for him to pursue his passion for baseball and coaching.
Adrian began coaching in 2004 at Lorain Catholic High School and then at Elyria Catholic, Avon Lake, and Columbia high schools. He also coached a collegiate summer team that won back-to-back Erie Shore Collegiate League Championships in 2004 and 2005. Adrian became the Oberlin College baseball recruiting coordinator in 2007 and was promoted to head coach in 2011, where he remained until his retirement in May, 2022. He had huge success with the Oberlin College baseball team leading them to an NCAC Championship and an NCAA Regional Appearance. He set the school record for wins in 2017 and received the NCAC Coach of the Year honors in 2013. Adrian started the Lake Erie Warhawks summer program in 2014 and has placed over 200 players in college. He merged his powerhouse organizations with T3 in 2021 and served as the Director of 16-18U Teams and College Placement Coordinator. Adrian is a part of the 2023 class of inductees to the Lorain Sports Halls of Fame.
Adrian's impact was immeasurable. He not only taught student athletes baseball fundamentals but also the meaning of teamwork and sportsmanship. He stressed the importance of working hard on the field and in the classroom. He had a great sense of humor that all his players enjoyed.
Among all of Adrian's accomplishments, his family was his greatest. He was very grateful and proud to be a husband to Teresa, and father to Taylor, and Andrew.
